چکیده

The unique self-prestressing behavior exhibited by Iron-based shape memory alloys (Fe-SMAs) coupled with the ease of application makes them suitable for numerous structural applications requiring post-installed reinforcement. However, practical realization Fe-SMA rebars as reinforcement systems entails an understanding their bond concrete to ensure use adequate anchorage length prestress transfer and prevention premature failure. cast-in-place near-surface mounted has been investigated in detail a few recent studies. no study so far into concrete. To address this important knowledge gap, paper presents extensive experimental campaign aimed at evaluating comprised 23 specimens, variable parameters including length, state rebar (non-activated or activated), drill-hole size, strength adjacent concrete, type (plain, threaded, deformed), loading history (monotonic cyclic). results showed that lengths ≥ 5db, ribbed primarily fail pull-out failure mode exhibit large inelastic strains load capacity is concluded comparison predictions conventional design models current testing campaign. demonstrates recommendations existing standards are generally conservative rebars.

Bonding Behavior of Deformed Steel Rebars in Sustainable Concrete Containing both Fine and Coarse Recycled Aggregates

In order to assess the bond behavior of deformed steel rebars in recycled-aggregate concrete (RAC) incorporating both fine and coarse recycled aggregate, pull-out tests were carried out in this study on 16-mm diameter deformed steel rebars embedded concentrically in RAC. The concrete was designed using equivalently mixed proportions of both recycled coarse aggregate and recycled fine aggregate....

study of behavior of reinforced concrete beams with smart rebars using finite element modeling

in this paper the response of cantilevered reinforced concrete (rc) beams with smart rebars under static lateral loading has been numerically studied, using finite element method. the material used in this study is superelasticshape memory alloys (se smas) which contains nickel and titanium elements. the se sma is a unique alloy that has the ability to undergo large deformations and return to t...

A Simple and Reliable Setup for Monitoring Corrosion Rate of Steel Rebars in Concrete

The accuracy in the measurement of the rate of corrosion of steel in concrete depends on many factors. The high resistivity of concrete makes the polarization data erroneous due to the Ohmic drop. The other source of error is the use of an arbitrarily assumed value of the Stern-Geary constant for calculating corrosion current density. This paper presents the outcomes of a research work conducte...
